Shopify Reader: UK 2026 Pricing & Fee Calculator
Shopify POS lets you take in-person payments that sync with your Shopify store. In-person rates start at about 1.7% on the Basic plan, which is included in the cost below, plus a reader from 49 pounds.

How the fees work
Shopify POS uses Shopify Payments to take in-person card payments that sync directly with your online store inventory and orders. In-person rates depend on your plan: roughly 1.7% on the Basic plan, falling towards 1.5% on the Grow and Advanced plans.
A Shopify plan is required, so the calculator includes the Basic plan at 19 pounds a month in your monthly cost and effective rate. The free POS Lite is included with every plan; POS Pro, which adds advanced retail features and per-location staff controls, costs extra (around 69 pounds a month per location). Occasional in-person sellers can use the cheaper Starter plan (about 5 pounds a month) instead.
Hardware starts with a Tap and Chip reader at about 49 pounds, up to a full countertop setup. If you use a third-party gateway instead of Shopify Payments online, Shopify adds an extra transaction fee, but that does not apply to in-person Shopify Payments sales.
