GoCardless: UK 2026 Pricing & Fee Calculator
GoCardless collects payments by Direct Debit rather than card, charging 1% + 20p per transaction (capped at 4 pounds). It is built for subscriptions, invoices and recurring revenue.
What GoCardless charges
| Fee | Rate |
|---|---|
| UK Direct Debit | 1% + 20p (max 4 pounds) |
| Chargebacks | Rare (pulled from bank account) |
| Monthly fee | None on standard plan |
How the fees work
GoCardless pulls payments directly from a customer's bank account by Direct Debit, charging 1% + 20p per transaction with the percentage capped at 4 pounds, so large payments are cheap relative to cards. Because the money is pulled rather than pushed, card-style chargebacks do not occur, which suits subscriptions, memberships and B2B invoicing.
It is not a card checkout, so it works best as the recurring-billing layer alongside (or instead of) a card processor. Larger enterprises can move to volume pricing with an annual platform fee; the standard self-serve rate is the 1% + 20p shown here.
