| Listing fee | About 16p per listing |
| Offsite Ads (if attributed) | 12% to 15% of the sale |
How the fees work
Etsy charges a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus postage, then Etsy Payments adds a payment processing fee of roughly 4% + 20p per order in the UK. There is also a small listing fee (about 16p) each time you list or renew an item, charged whether or not it sells. Combined, the transaction and processing fees come to around 10.5% + 20p, which the calculator uses.
The big variable is Offsite Ads: if a buyer reaches your listing through an Etsy-paid advert, Etsy charges an additional 12% to 15% advertising fee on that sale. This is mandatory for higher-revenue shops and optional below a threshold.
Etsy is expensive per sale compared with general marketplaces, but it reaches a large, dedicated audience for handmade, vintage and craft goods. Factor the fee stack into your pricing.
